Scope note: Compuestos líquidos de carbono perfluorado que pueden contener o no un átomo hetero como nitrógeno, oxígeno o azufre, pero no contienen otro átomo de halógeno o de hidrógeno. Este concepto incluye las emulsiones fluorocarbonadas y los sustitutos de sangre fluorocarbonados. Los productos químicos perfluorados y polifluorados relacionados se conocen como PFAS (por sus siglas en inglés) y se definen como productos químicos con al menos dos átomos de carbono adyacentes, donde un carbono está completamente fluorado y el otro está al menos parcialmente fluorado.
