Scope note: La familia de la planta de la menta. Son característicamente aromáticas, y muchas de ellas se cultivan por sus aceites. La mayoría tienen estambres cuadrados, hojas opuestas y corolas tubulares bilabiadas abiertas (pétalos unidos) con cálices de cinco lóbulos, con forma de campana (sépalos unidos).
