Scope note: Género de la familia TOMBUSVIRIDAE que se encuentra principalmente en las regiones templadas. En áreas tropicales se han descrito algunas especies que infectan a las legumbres (FABACEAE). La mayoría de los virus son vehiculados por el suelo, pero algunos son transmitidos por el hongo Olpidium radicale y otros por escarabajos. La especie tipo es el virus del moteado del clavel.
