Scope note: Familia de virus ADN hepatotrópicos que contienen genomas de ADN bicatenario y producen hepatitis en el hombre y en animales. Existen dos géneros: AVIHEPADNAVIRUS y ORTHOHEPADNAVIRUS. Los hepadnavirus incluyen el VIRUS DE LA HEPATITIS B, el virus de la hepatitis B del pato (VIRUS DE LA HEPATITIS B DEL PATO), el virus de la hepatitis B de la garza, el virus de la hepatitis de la ardilla, y el virus de la hepatitis B de la marmota (VIRUS DE LA HEPATITIS B DE LA MARMOTA).
