Scope note: Subfamilia de serpientes elápidas marinas que engloba alrededor de 50 especies con cola aplanada en forma de remo que utilizan como tal. Se encuentran principalmente en aguas costeras del sur de Asia y Australia. Las más grandes pueden alcanzar longitudes de casi 9 pies aunque la mayoría de las especies tienen solamente alrededor de un tercio de esa longitud. Todas ellas son venenosas.
