Scope note: Orden de pequeños mamíferos constituido por dos familias, Ochotonidae (pikas) y Leporidae (CONEJOS y LIEBRES). La longitud de la cabeza y el cuerpo oscila entre 125 mm a 750 mm, aproximadamente. Las liebres y conejos tienen una cola corta, y las pikas no poseen cola. Los conejos nacen sin pelos y con los ojos y las orejas cerrados. Las LIEBRES nacen con la piel bien provista de pelos y los ojos y orejas abiertos. Todos son vegetarianos(Nowak, Walker s Mammals of the World, 5th ed, p539-41).
