Scope note: Proceso metabólico de fraccionamiento de LÍPIDOS para obtener ÁCIDOS GRASOS LIBRES, el principal combustible oxidativo del organismo. La lipólisis puede efectuarse sobre los lípidos de la dieta, en el TRACTO DIGESTIVO, sobre los lípidos circulantes de la SANGRE, y sobre los lípidos almacenados en el TEJIDO ADIPOSO o el HÍGADO. En la hidrólisis de los lípidos están involucradas diversas enzimas, como la LIPASA y la LIPOPROTEÍNA LIPASA de diferentes tejidos.
