Scope note: Técnica que emplea un microtomo para cortar secciones finas y ultrafinas de tejidos impregnados de una sustancia de sustentación. El microtomo es un instrumento provisto de una cuchilla de acero, vidrio o diamante, en un ángulo determinado respecto a los bloques de tejidos preparados, para cortarlos en secciones de igual grosor.
