Scope note: Complejo de síntomas que consiste en dolor, espontáneo y a la palpación muscular, chasquido en la articulación y limitación o alteración del movimiento mandibular. Los síntomas son subjetivos y se manifiestan principalmente en los músculos masticadores en lugar de presentarse en la propia articulación temporomandibular. Los factores etiológicos son poco claros pero incluyen la falta de armonía en la oclusión o factores psicofisiológicos.
