Scope note: Orden de los CRUSTACEA de mayoría marina, que engloba a más de 5.500 especies pertenecientes a más de 100 familias. Al igual que los ISOPODA, el otro gran orden del superorden Peracarida, sus miembros tienen aspecto de langostino, con ojos compuestos sésiles y están exentos de caparazón. Sin embargo, a diferencia de los Isopoda, poseen agallas torácicas y sus cuerpos están comprimidos lateralmente.
