Scope note: Género de plantas de la familia EUPHORBIACEAE. Son plantas perennes, provistas de llamativas hojas similares a las de las palmeras, como el RICINUS, pero con hendiduras más profundas que delimitan ocho o nueve lóbulos. Son una fuente de féculas una vez eliminados los glucósidos cianogénicos. El nombre común de arrurruz también se utiliza para la Maranta (MARANTACEAE). El nombre común de yuca también se utiliza para la YUCCA.

Scope note: A plant genus of the family EUPHORBIACEAE that is perennial with conspicuous, almost palmate leaves like those of RICINUS but more deeply parted into five to nine lobes. It is a source of a starch after removal of the cyanogenic glucosides. The common name of Arrowroot is also used with Maranta (MARANTACEAE). The common name of yuca is also used for YUCCA.
