Scope note: Cerebrósidos que contienen como cabeza polar una molécula de galactosa unida, mediante enlace glucosídico, al grupo hidroxilo de la ceramida. Su acumulación en los tejidos, debida a un defecto de galactosidasa beta, es la causa de la lipidosis galactosilceramida o leucodistrofia de células globoides.
