Descriptor English: Hypoaldosteronism
Descriptor Spanish: Hipoaldosteronismo
Descriptor hipoaldosteronismo
Entry term(s) acidosis renal tubular tipo IV
acidosis tubular renal tipo IV

Tree number(s): C19.053.500.480
RDF Unique Identifier: https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D006994
Scope note: A congenital or acquired condition of insufficient production of ALDOSTERONE by the ADRENAL CORTEX leading to diminished aldosterone-mediated synthesis of Na(+)-K(+)-EXCHANGING ATPASE in renal tubular cells. Clinical symptoms include HYPERKALEMIA, sodium-wasting, HYPOTENSION, and sometimes metabolic ACIDOSIS.

Hypoaldosteronism - Preferred
Concept UI M0010887
Scope note A congenital or acquired condition of insufficient production of ALDOSTERONE by the ADRENAL CORTEX leading to diminished aldosterone-mediated synthesis of Na(+)-K(+)-EXCHANGING ATPASE in renal tubular cells. Clinical symptoms include HYPERKALEMIA, sodium-wasting, HYPOTENSION, and sometimes metabolic ACIDOSIS.
Preferred term Hypoaldosteronism
Hypoaldosteronism, Hyporeninemic - Narrower
Concept UI M0010888
Scope note A selective aldosterone deficiency resulting from diminished RENIN-generated ANGIOTENSIN II, a key stimulus to aldosterone secretion. Previously, it was called type IV renal tubular acidosis.
Preferred term Hypoaldosteronism, Hyporeninemic
Entry term(s) Acidosis, Renal Tubular Type IV
Hyporeninemic Hypoaldosteronism
Renal Tubular Acidosis, Type IV
