Scope note: Familia de proteínas implicadas en el TRANSPORTE NUCLEOCITOPLASMÁTICO. Las carioferinas son moléculas heteroméricas constituidas por dos tipos principales de compuestos, las CARIOFERINAS ALFA y las CARIOFERINAS BETA, que funcionan juntas para transportar moléculas a través de PROTEÍNAS DEL COMPLEJO DE POROS NUCLEAR. Algunas otras proteínas, como la PROTEÍNA DE UNIÓN AL GTP RAN y la PROTEÍNA DE SUSCEPTIBILIDAD A LA APOPTOSIS CELULAR, se unen a las carioferinas y participan en el proceso de transporte.
