Scope note: Células grandes con un pequeño núcleo irregular y gránulos acidofílicos debidos a la presencia de abundantes MITOCONDRIAS. Las células oxífilas, también conocidas como oncocitos, se encuentran en los oncocitomas de riñón, glándulas salivares y glándulas endocrinas. En la glándula tiroides las células oxífilas se denominan células de Hurthle y células de Askenazy.
