Scope note: Filo de celenterados marinos caracterizados por ocho hileras de cilios fusionados en su superficie corporal. En contraste con CNIDARIA, carecen de células urticariantes pero son voraces predadores y poseen células adherentes (coloblastos) para capturar a sus presas. La mayoría de las especies son transparentes y muchas presentan BIOLUMINISCENCIA.
