Scope note: Enfermedad infecciosa de la piel causada por Treponema carateum, que sólo se observa en el hemisferio occidental. La enfermedad comienza a manifestarse entre los 10 y 20 años. Se caracteriza por notables cambios en el color de la piel y se cree que se transmite por contacto directo de persona a persona.
