Scope note:	Productos de secreción o degradación vegetales, amorfos e inflamables, que suelen formarse en cavidades especiales de las plantas. En general son insolubles en agua y solubles en alcohol, tetracloruro de carbono, éter o aceites volátiles. Son fusibles y tienen una fractura concoidea. Son los productos de la oxidación o polimerización de los terpenos, y son mezclas de ácidos aromáticos y ésteres. La mayoría son blandos y pegajosos, pero se endurecen tras la exposición al frío. Flammable, amorphous, vegetable products of secretion or disintegration, usually formed in special cavities of plants. They are generally insoluble in water and soluble in alcohol, carbon tetrachloride, ether, or volatile oils. They are fusible and have a conchoidal fracture. They are the oxidation or polymerization products of the terpenes, and are mixtures of aromatic acids and esters. Most are soft and sticky, but harden after exposure to cold.
