Scope note:	El orden más amplio de CRUSTACEA qu comprende más de 10.000 especies. Se caracterizan por poseer tres pares de apéndices torácicos modificados como maxilípedos y cinco pares de patas torácicas. El orden comprende, entre otros, las familiares gambas, el cangrejo rojo de rio americano (ASTACOIDEA), los verdaderos cangrejos (BRACHYURA) y las langostas (NEPHROPIDAE y PALINURINDAE), entre otros.

The largest order of CRUSTACEA, comprising over 10,000 species. They are characterized by three pairs of thoracic appendages modified as maxillipeds, and five pairs of thoracic legs. The order includes the familiar shrimps, crayfish (ASTACOIDEA), true crabs (BRACHYURA), and lobsters (NEPHROPIDAE and PALINURIDAE), among others.
