Scope note: Infecciones producidas por el género BARTONELLA. Bartonella bacilliformis puede producir anemia febril aguda, conocida como fiebre de La Oroya, y una erupción cutánea benigna, llamada verruga peruana. BARTONELLA QUINTANA causa la FIEBRE DE LAS TRINCHERAS, en tanto que BARTONELLA HENSELAE es el agente etiológico de la ANGIOMATOSIS BACILAR y es también una de las causas de la ENFERMEDAD POR ARAÑAZO DE GATO.

Scope note: Infections by the genus BARTONELLA. Bartonella bacilliformis can cause acute febrile anemia, designated Oroya fever, and a benign skin eruption, called verruga peruana. BARTONELLA QUINTANA causes TRENCH FEVER, while BARTONELLA HENSELAE is the etiologic agent of bacillary angiomatosis (ANGIOMATOSIS, BACILLARY) and is also one of the causes of CAT-SCRATCH DISEASE.
