Scope note: Órgano hueco de pared muscular gruesa situado en la PELVIS femenina. Consta del fondo, que es el sitio de la IMPLANTACIÓN EMBRIONARIA y del DESARROLLO FETAL. Pasado el istmo del útero, en el extremo perineal del fondo, está el CUELLO DEL ÚTERO (o cérvix uterino), el cual se abre en la VAGINA. Más allá de los istmos tubáricos, en la parte superior abdominal del fondo, están las TROMPAS DE FALOPIO.

Scope note: The hollow thick-walled muscular organ in the female PELVIS. It consists of the fundus which is the site of EMBRYO IMPLANTATION and FETAL DEVELOPMENT. Beyond the isthmus at the perineal end of fundus, is CERVIX UTERI (the neck) opening into VAGINA. Beyond the isthmi at the upper abdominal end of fundus, are the FALLOPIAN TUBES.
