Scope note: Insectos parásitos de la familia CIMICIDAE, género Cimex. Las chinches hembras ponen huevos en lugares protegidos, como las costuras de los colchones. Los estadios adulto y ninfa se alimentan de hospedadores de sangre caliente. Las especies Cimex lectularius y Cimex hemipterus producen infestaciones humanas.
