Scope note: Precursor de la epinefrina segregado por la MÉDULA SUPRARRENAL y neurotransmisor del sistema nervioso central y del sistema nervioso autónomo ampliamente distribuido. La norepinefrina es el principal transmisor de la mayoría de las fibras simpáticas posganglionares y del sistema de proyección difusa del encéfalo que se origina en el LOCUS COERULEUS. También se encuentra en plantas y se utiliza farmacológicamente como simpaticomimético.

Scope note: Precursor of epinephrine that is secreted by the ADRENAL MEDULLA and is a widespread central and autonomic neurotransmitter. Norepinephrine is the principal transmitter of most postganglionic sympathetic fibers, and of the diffuse projection system in the brain that arises from the LOCUS CERULEUS. It is also found in plants and is used pharmacologically as a sympathomimetic.
