Scope note: Cualquier desviación de los resultados o inferencias con la verdad, o procesos que conduzcan a tal desviación. El sesgo puede ser el resultado de varias causas: unilaterales o sistemáticas en el valor real de una medición (error sistemático), fallos en el diseño del estudio, desviaciones de inferencias, interpretaciones, o análisis basados en datos erróneos, o en la obtención de los datos etc. En estas circunstancias no existe connotación de prejuicio o subjetividad implícita en el concepto de sesgo.
