Este término se utiliza también para las prácticas de crianza de los niños en diversas sociedades, con diferentes niveles económicos, en diferentes grupos étnicos, etc. Se diferencia de la RESPONSABILIDAD PARENTAL en que en la crianza el énfasis se pone en el acto de formar o preparar a los niños y en la interacción entre los padres y el niño, mientras que la RESPONSABILIDAD PARENTAL enfatiza la responsabilidad y las cualidades ejemplarizantes del comportamiento de los padres.
