Scope note: A ring of tissue extending from the scleral spur to the ora serrata of the RETINA. It consists of the uveal portion and the epithelial portion. The ciliary muscle is in the uveal portion and the ciliary processes are in the epithelial portion.
Annotation: inflammation: consider CILIARY BODY (IM) + UVEITIS (IM) or UVEITIS, ANTERIOR (IM); diseases = CILIARY BODY (IM) + UVEAL DISEASES (IM); neoplasms = CILIARY BODY (IM) + UVEAL NEOPLASMS (IM) + histological type of neoplasm (IM); / blood supply consider also CILIARY ARTERIES; pigmented ciliary epithelium: coordinate CILIARY BODY with PIGMENT EPITHELIUM OF EYE
