Scope note: Fase más temprana del desarrollo del óvulo fecundado (CIGOTO) durante la cual se producen varias divisiones mitósicas dentro de la ZONA PELÚCIDA. Cada división o segmentación da lugar a dos BLASTÓMEROS cada uno con un tamaño aproximadamente la mitad del de la célula progenitora. Este estadio de división generalmente llega hasta el estadio de MÓRULA de 16 células.
