Scope note: Conjunto de directrices o principios para ayudar al profesional sanitario a la toma de decisiones en el cuidado del paciente respecto al diagnóstico, tratamiento u otros procedimientos clínicos en circunstancias clínicas específicas. Las guías de práctica clínica pueden ser desarrolladas por agencias gubernamentales de cualquier nivel, instituciones, organizaciones como sociedades profesionales o juntas directivas o por acuerdo de grupos de expertos. Estas guías proporcionan los fundamentos para evaluar la calidad y eficacia de la atención a la salud en términos de medida de la mejora de la salud, la reducción de la variedad de servicios o procedimientos aplicados y la reducción de la variedad de resultados en la atención sanitaria prestada.
