Scope note: Fenómeno que se observa cuando un pequeño subgrupo de una POBLACIÓN mayor se establece como una entidad separada y aislada. El ACERVO GÉNICO del subgrupo consta solo de una fracción de la diversidad genética de la población parental lo que da lugar a incremento de la frecuencia de ciertas enfermedades en dicho subgrupo, especialmente de las que se transmiten con carácter autosómico recesivo.
