Scope note:	CARBONO de estructura polihédrica compuesto por 60-80 átomos de carbono en configuración pentagonal o hexagonal. Se denominan así en honor de Buckminster Fuller, por su semejanza estructural con sus cúpulas geodésicas. Los fulerenos pueden producirse a altas temperaturas, como en un arco de corriente en atmósfera inerte.

Scope note:

A polyhedral CARBON structure composed of around 60-80 carbon atoms in pentagon and hexagon configuration. They are named after Buckminster Fuller because of structural resemblance to geodesic domes. Fullerenes can be made in high temperature such as arc discharge in an inert atmosphere.
