Scope note: Cardiopatía congénita caracterizada por el orificio persistente del CONDUCTO ARTERIOSO fetal que conecta la ARTERIA PULMONAR con la aorta descendente (AORTA DESCENDENTE) permitiendo que la sangre no oxigenada no pase por el pulmón y fluya a la PLACENTA. Normalmente el conducto se cierra poco después del nacimiento.

Scope note: A congenital heart defect characterized by the persistent opening of fetal DUCTUS ARTERIOSUS that connects the PULMONARY ARTERY to the descending aorta (AORTA, DESCENDING) allowing unoxygenated blood to bypass the lung and flow to the PLACENTA. Normally, the ductus is closed shortly after birth.
