Scope note: Partículas elementales estables que poseen la menor carga negativa conocida y están presentes en todos los elementos. También se denominan negatrones. Los electrones con carga positiva reciben el nombre de positrones. El número, la disposición y la energía de los electrones alrededor del núcleo atómico determinan la identidad química de los diferentes elementos. La radiación con haces de electrones se denomina RAYOS CATÓDICOS.
