Es visible en ULTRASONOGRAFÍA PRENATAL en la quinta semana del embarazo. Con frecuencia se utiliza su tamaño para determinar y monitorizar la EDAD GESTACIONAL, el CRECIMIENTO FETAL y las COMPLICACIONES DEL EMBARAZO.
