Scope note: Reducción de la viscosidad de la sangre, generalmente por adición de soluciones exentas de células. Se utiliza clínicamente: 1) en estados con alteraciones de la microcirculación, 2) para reemplazar la pérdida de sangre durante la cirugía sin utilizar transfusión de sangre homóloga, y 3) en la derivación cardiopulmonar con hipotermia.
