Descriptor English: Leghemoglobin
Descriptor Spanish: Leghemoglobina
Descriptor leghemoglobina
Descriptor Portuguese: Leghemoglobina
Descriptor French: Leghémoglobine
Entry term(s): Leghemoglobin A
Tree number(s): D12.776.422.316.881
D12.776.765.500
RDF Unique Identifier: https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D007874
Scope note: A hemoglobin-like oxygen-binding hemeprotein present in the nitrogen-fixing root nodules of leguminous plants. The red pigment has a molecular weight approximately 1/4 that of hemoglobin and has been suggested to act as an oxido-reduction catalyst in symbiotic nitrogen fixation.
