Agente simpaticomimético con efectos principalmente indirectos sobre los receptores adrenérgicos. Se utiliza para mantener la presión arterial en estados de hipotensión, por ejemplo después de la anestesia espinal. Aunque los efectos estimulantes centrales de la mefentermina son mucho menores que los de la anfetamina, su uso puede llevar a dependencia de tipo anfetamínico.
