Scope note: Infección aguda causada por la bacteria formadora de esporas BACILLUS ANTHRACIS. Normalmente afecta a animales ungulados como las ovejas y las cabras. La infección en los humanos afecta frecuentemente a la piel (carbunco cutáneo), los pulmones (carbunco por inhalación) o el tubo digestivo. El carbunco no es contagioso y puede ser tratado con antibióticos.
