Scope note: Técnica que emplea un microtomo para cortar secciones finas y ultrafinas de tejidos impregnados de una sustancia de sustentación. El microtomo es un instrumento provisto de una cuchilla de acero, vidrio o diamante, en un ángulo determinado respecto a los bloques de tejidos preparados, para cortarlos en secciones de igual grosor.

Scope note: The technique of using a microtome to cut thin or ultrathin sections of tissues embedded in a supporting substance. The microtome is an instrument that hold a steel, glass or diamond knife in clamps at an angle to the blocks of prepared tissues, which it cuts in sections of equal thickness.
