Nota de alcance: Orden amplio y diverso de plantas con flores dicotiledóneas, subclase DILLENIIDAE. La mayoría de sus miembros posee pétalos ligeramente fusionados y flores radialmente simétricas que forman cápsulas frutales y finos recubrimientos para las semillas. Sus miembros también contienen IRIDOIDES, compuestos que protegen de los herbívoros. Algunos ejemplos de ericales son especies de importancia económica tales como el TÉ, el KAKI, los ARÁNDANOS AZULES (PLANTA), las NUECES DE BRASIL, la azalea, el ARÁNDANO ROJO y RHODODENDRON.

Most members have weakly fused petals and radially symmetric flowers which form fruit capsules and thin seed coats. Members also contain IRIDOIDS, compounds which protect against herbivores. Common examples of the ericales are economically important species such as TEA, PERSIMMON, BLUEBERRY, BRAZIL NUTS, azalea, CRANBERRIES, and RHODODENDRON.
