Nota de alcance: Género de bacterias de forma bacilar, oval o arriñonada que se encuentran en el suelo o en las aguas dulces. Presentan prostecas polares y las células se reproducen por gemación en los extremos de las prostecas. Las células de este género son aerobias y crecen mejor con compuestos de un átomo de carbono(Bergey, Manual of Determinative Bacteriology, 9th ed).
