Nota de alcance: Deslizamientos súbitos sobre una falla geológica, y el temblor de tierra y la energía sísmica radiada resultantes causados por los deslizamientos, o por actividad volcánica o magmática, u otros cambios súbitos por estrés en la tierra. Las fallas son fracturas a lo largo de las cuales los bloques de la corteza terrestre a cada lado se han desplazado uno respecto del otro en paralelo a la fractura.
