Especie de bacterias gramnegativas, facultativamente anaerobias, de forma bacilar, que se encuentran normalmente en la flora de la boca y del tracto respiratorio de animales y aves. Producen fiebre de embarque (ver PASTEURELOSIS NEUMÓNICA), BACTERIEMIA HEMORRÁGICA, y enfermedades intestinales en animales. En humanos, la enfermedad surge generalmente tras un picotazo o arañazo producido por animales domésticos.

Note d'application:

A species of gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic, rod-shaped bacteria normally found in the flora of the mouth and respiratory tract of animals and birds. It causes shipping fever (see PASTEURELLOSIS, PNEUMONIC); HEMORRHAGIC BACTEREMIA; and intestinal disease in animals. In humans, disease usually arises from a wound infection following a bite or scratch from domesticated animals.
