Note d'application: Moléculas altamente reactivas con un electrón desapareado. Los radicales libres se generan en procesos normales y patológicos. Los radicales libres incluyen las especies reactivas de oxígeno y nitrógeno (RONS, por sus siglas en inglés). Son agentes presuntos o confirmados de daño tisular en circunstancias muy diversas, entre otras las radiaciones, la exposición a agentes químicos del entorno y el envejecimiento. Se está investigando activamente la prevención natural y farmacológica del daño por radicales libres.
