Nota de escopo: Sistema bacteriano de fosfotransferasa de azúcares (PTS) que cataliza la transferencia del grupo fosforilo del fosfoenolpiruvato a sus sustratos azucarados (los azúcares PTS) al mismo tiempo que transporta estos azúcares a través de la membrana bacteriana. La fosforilación de un azúcar dado requiere cuatro proteínas: dos proteínas generales, la enzima I y la HPr, y un par de proteínas específicas de azúcares, el denominado complejo de la enzima II. El sistema PTS también ha sido implicado en la inducción de la síntesis de ciertos sistemas enzimáticos catabólicos necesarios para la utilización de los azúcares que no son sustratos del PTS, así como en la regulación de la actividad de la ADENILATO CICLASAS. Nota de escopo: The bacterial sugar phosphotransferase system (PTS) that catalyzes the transfer of the phosphoryl group from phosphoenolpyruvate to its sugar substrates (the PTS sugars) concomitant with the translocation of these sugars across the bacterial membrane. The phosphorylation of a given sugar requires four proteins, two general proteins, Enzyme I and HPr and a pair of sugar-specific proteins designated as the Enzyme II complex. The PTS has also been implicated in the induction of synthesis of some catabolic enzyme systems required for the utilization of sugars that are not substrates of the PTS as well as the regulation of the activity of ADENYLYL CYCLASES.
