Nota de escopo: Proteína fijadora de calcio dependiente de la vitamina K sintetizada por los OSTEOBLASTOS que se encuentra principalmente en los HUESOS. Las determinaciones séricas de osteocalcina aportan un marcador específico no invasivo del metabolismo óseo. La proteína contiene tres residuos del aminoácido ácido gamma-carboxiglutámico (Gla), que, en presencia de CALCIO, promueve la fijación a la HIDROXIAPATITA y la posterior acumulación en la MATRIZ ÓSEA.
