Nota de escopo: Enfermedad ocula que se manifiesta de muchos modos, y su característica fundamental es un aumento inestable o mantenido de la presión intraocular que el ojo no puede soportar sin que se dañen sus estructuras o se afecte su función. Las consecuencias del aumento de la presión pueden manifestarse como diversos síntomas, dependiendo del tipo y gravedad, entre ellos, excavación del disco óptico, dureza del globo ocular, anestesia corneal, reducción de la agudeza visual, visión de un halo de colores alrededor de las luces, trastornos en la adaptación a la oscuridad, defectos en el campo visual y cefaleas. The consequences of the increased pressure may be manifested in a variety of symptoms, depending upon type and severity, such as excavation of the optic disk, hardness of the eyeball, corneal anesthesia, reduced visual acuity, seeing of colored halos around lights, disturbed dark adaptation, visual field defects, and headaches.
