Nota de escopo:	Enriquecimiento de un ECOSISTEMA terrestre o acuático por incremento de nutrientes, especialmente nitrógeno y fósforo, que da lugar a un crecimiento superabundante de plantas, ALGAS u otros productores primarios. Puede ser un proceso natural o consecuencia de la actividad humana, como vertidos agrícolas o contaminación por aguas residuales. En los ecosistemas acuáticos, un aumento en la población de algas recibe la denominación de hiperproliferación de algas.

The enrichment may be natural, or unnatural, for example, from WATER POLLUTION, or controlled such as is done for the aquaculture of PHYTOPLANKTON. If the bloom becomes detrimental to animals, it is called a HARMFUL ALGAL BLOOM.
