Nota de escopo: Pequeño proteoglicano rico en leucina que interactúa con los COLÁGENOS FIBRILARES y modifica la estructura de la MATRIZ EXTRACELULAR del TEJIDO CONJUNTIVO. Se ha demostrado también que la decorina desempeña otros papeles en la regulación de las respuestas celulares a los FACTORES DE CRECIMIENTO. La proteína contiene una única cadena de glicosaminoglicano y tiene una estructura similar al BIGLICANO.
