Scope note: Género de plantas de la familia Plantaginaceae. Las pequeñas plantas presentan un denso penacho basal de hojas, los tallos son largos, sin hojas, y terminan en una aguja de flores pequeñas. Las semillas, denominadas PSYLLIUM, se hinchan con el agua y se utilizan como laxante. Las hojas de estas plantas se han usado con fines medicinales.

Scope note: A plant genus of the family Plantaginaceae. The small plants usually have a dense tuft of basal leaves and long, leafless stalks bearing a terminal spike of small flowers. The seeds, known as PSYLLIUM, swell in water and are used as laxatives. The leaves have been used medicinally.
