Scope note: Rama del nervio facial (séptimo par craneal) que pasa a través del oído medio y continua por la fisura petrotimpánica. El nervio de la cuerda del tímpano transmite los impulsos sensitivos del sabor desde los dos tercios anteriores de la lengua y emite fibras eferentes parasimpáticas hacia las glándulas salivares.
